Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has become one of the SDCC’s biggest highlights in recent years, due to its increasing popularity and numerous box office successes.
This is Akiba Press’ round-up of the list of Marvel films and TV shows to look out for from SDCC 2017:
The second Thor:Ragnarok trailer was released during its panel at Hall H, with more footage of Bruce Banner (Hulk), Loki and Hela for fans to indulge in.
They have also released a new movie poster featuring Thor, Hulk, Hela, Loki and Valkyrie, alongside other marvel-lous characters.
Avengers: Infinity War
Not much details were given about Avengers: Infinity War during the event, though the newly-released movie poster sure was a treat for fans.
Interesting features to note from the poster include Captain America’s beard, Black Widow’s blonde hair (possibly a nod to Yelena Bolova) and the physical intimacy of Vision and Scarlet Witch, which may hint at a blossoming romantic relationship.
The movie will see the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange finally meeting and working with one another – leading to the perfect build-up of bringing together the different aspects of MCU.
Avengers: Infinity War is set to be released on 4 May 2018.
In The Defenders panel, a second trailer was revealed for the show. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are all slated for a second season, in addition to a season-three release for Daredevil.
The Defenders is set to be released on Netflix on 18 August 2017.
Posters, galore – here is another one for the Black Panther fans. The new release features our title hero perched over the technologically-advanced city of Wakanda in a badass pose.
The panel also screened exclusive movie footage for the attendees, with the cast having viewed it backstage beforehand. It will star a mainly African-American cast.
Ant-Man and Wasp
An Ant-Man and Wasp movie featuring the original duo(as opposed to Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man) has been announced. Michelle Pfieffer (who played Catwoman in Batman Returns) has been cast as Wasp. Other cast members include Laurence Fishburne as Goliath, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, with Fresh Off The Boat’s Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo.
Event goers had a chance to view the new Punisher trailer, in preparation for the release of its upcoming season. The Netflix show is set to debut in November 2017 and stars Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (David Lieberman), Michael Nathanson (Sam Stein), Jaime Ray Newman (Sarah Lieberman), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Paul Schulze (Rawlins), Daniel Webber (Lewis Walcott), and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page).
Captain Marvel’s movie panel has given us four things to look out for – the unveiling of her superhero costume, the 1990s setting adopted by the movie, the appearance of a two-eyed Nick Fury, and the introduction of Skrulls as the main villains. We cannot wait to know more about this Marvel super heroine’s solo movie!
