The last day of E3 saw Nintendo wrapping up the event nicely, with news announcements on several big titles, including an upcoming Pokémon RPG for the Switch, as well as a new Metroid Prime in the works.

As usual, the Nintendo conference was conducted in the style of pre-recorded videos, and here is a break down of everything that was shown.

Dinosaurs, hat-throwing, and of course, flawless jumping mechanics – Super Mario Odyssey sure looks like a hell lot of fun. A wild and ambitious project, the game sees everyone’s favourite Italian plumber using his hat like a boomerang, and check this out: it can also be used to take over his enemies’ bodies!

It will be coming to the Switch in October 2017.

Metroid: Samus Returns

Metroid: Samus Returns Trailer

E3 2017: The Metroid series sees the return of Samus after a 10-year absence (it's about time!).

The time is here – Samus Aran will finally be returning to the 3DS after a ten-year absence. Metroid: Samus Returns is a “reimagination” of the original game titled Metroid II: Return of Samus, and its trailer shows off gorgeous graphics and smooth game mechanics.

In addition, some changes have been introduced to the game as well, including a free-aiming feature (where Samus can shoot with a full 360-degree range of motion), and a melee counter.

Metroid: Samus Returns is scheduled for release on 15 September 2017 for the 3DS. Fans of the series will be pleased to know that Metroid Prime 4 is also currently in the works for the Switch.

Dive back into the story that is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with the first of its two expansion packs. First announced back in February, this DLC will boast a couple of cool additions; new armour, a “smart map”, and two other modes (horde and hard mode).

While this is slated for release in Summer 2017, the second one will only be available at a later time.

Fire Emblem: Warriors

Fire Emblem: Warriors Trailer

E3 2017: Embark on a new adventure with both new (twins!) and old heroes (read: Marth and Chrom) in Fire Emblem: Warriors.

Posted by Akiba Press on Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Here is one for the Fire Emblem fans. Fire Emblem: Warriors follows the adventure of twin protagonists Shion and Lian, and will feature some familiar faces, such as Marth (Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light) and Chrom (Fire Emblem: Awakening). Gameplay resembles that of the Dynasty Warriors mechanics as well, meaning Nintendo has finally done away with the turn-based system.

The game will come to Nintendo Switch and 3DS come Fall 2017.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

As with the rest of the series, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is set in a fantasy world filled with sci-fi elements. The trailer promises fun and adventure in the form of massive explorable environments, flying fortresses, and of course, various enemies.

The game is due to launch in the later part of 2017 for Nintendo Switch.

Rocket League (Nintendo Switch)

First released in 2015, the vehicular soccer game Rocket League has been announced for Nintendo Switch. Cross-platform play across Xbox One and Steam is now supported, with the online multiplayer allowing for a maximum of eight players.

The game is scheduled to release for the later part of 2017, though an exact date has not been given.

Kirby (Nintendo Switch)

Kirby is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and he will not be alone. Tentatively titled Kirby, the game sees the pink character bringing three teammates along – either in co-op or by recruiting allies – as they battle enemies melee-style and with Kirby‘s powers.

It is slated for release in 2018.

Sonic Forces

Sonic Forces Trailer

E3 2017: Create your own avatar in Sonic Forces and team up with Sonic The Hedgehog to defeat the forces of evil.

Posted by Akiba Press on Tuesday, June 13, 2017

A reprise of the Sonic series, Sonic Forces pits both old and new characters against and with one another. Apart from featuring a new nemesis, the game allows for the customisation of the player’s avatar, which should be pretty fun.

Sonic Forces will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC come late 2017.

Yoshi (Nintendo Switch)

Yoshi is the latest of Nintendo’s characters to move over to Switch. As with other games from the seriesthe new title has the green dinosaur running through levels with eggs on his trail. The trailer is reminiscent of Paper Mario, with lots of jumping and enemy-stomping on flat surfaces.

The game will be released in 2018.
